The Mission of Moffett Road Christian School
Founded in 1981, MRCS is committed to helping Christian parents who have been called of God to educate their children at home. We encourage families as they observe the Biblical commands of these Scriptures:
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.— Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.— Proverbs 22:6
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.— Ephesians 6:4
At the core of our church school is the view that the God of the Bible reveals Himself to us through His Word, His creation, and His Son, Jesus Christ. As parents who educate our children at home, this Biblical worldview shapes everything we do, causing us to teach every subject within the light of God’s revelation. God is the author of math, science, history, language and the arts, and reveals Himself through these disciplines.
We want our children to be set apart for the Lord. We want them to be able to defend their faith, to “always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within us, with gentleness and respect.” (I Peter 3:15)
Homeschooling helps build strong families. It fosters relationships between siblings and strengthens the parent-child bond.
Because homeschooling offers incredible flexibility, children can explore the subjects and topics they love. Learning, then, becomes more than memorizing facts and figures or a set of requirements. It becomes a discovery of their gifts, talents, and abilities, and the opportunity to maximize those for the glory of God and for His Kingdom.
