WHO/WHAT: Jr. High Singers. JHS is open to any 7th and 8th grader. (12-14 year olds).
WHY: The purpose of JHS is to hide God’s word in the hearts of middle schoolers through choral music, discovering and developing their abilities by teaching proper vocal technique in a fast-paced, fun-filled environment.
WHEN: Sunday afternoons from 4:30 – 6:00. Spring Semester 2017 begins Sunday, 1/15 and runs through May.
WHERE: Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2 S. McGregor Avenue, Mobile, AL 36608 (JHS Choir Room is upstairs directly under the steeple).
COST/REQUIREMENTS: There is no fee to participate, and there are usually two required performances in Sunday morning worship and the Spring Concert on a Sunday afternoon.
LEADERS: The group is led by Bill and Laurie Taylor, veteran home schoolers. Check with your cover school to see if participation in this group could be used to as part of your fine/performing arts curriculum.
FUN FACTS: In addition to singing, in each rehearsal there is also an opportunity to participate in ringing handbells, there are games, and of course, snacks! In the last several years JHS has presented Spring Concert programs including choral music, handbells, and drama in multiple formats both on and off campus.
