Our school year will begin with the annual kick–off meeting at Moffett Road Assembly of God. Please see the MRCS Facebook page and/or the MRCS newsletter, which is delivered via email, for the 2016/17 date and time. This meeting is required for at least one parent of each family but the whole family is welcomed. Our time will begin in the Worship Center with brief introductions. Then families will meet together with their assigned cell leaders. Finally we will gather in the Activity Center for refreshments and an Activities Expo.
This year we will be hosting a “Stuff the Race Car” event during kick-off with Kane Motorsports benefiting Women’s & Children’s Hospital. The drivers, and their race cars and trucks, will be present for interviews, autographs, and pictures with our MRCS families. We ask that you help “Stuff the Race Car” by bringing school supplies to Kick-off that will go directly to the patients of Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
The hospital has a classroom, on-site, that is staffed by Mobile County teachers. However, many of these children are homeschooled due to their various ailments and/or family choice. Often, hospitalization is unexpected and they are unprepared, or unable, to gather school supplies. It is our hope that having these supplies on-hand at the facility will allow the families peace of mind to focus on other aspects of their child’s needs. Please bring your family to meet these amazing racers who founded the organization “Kane’s Warrior Kids” to benefit children suffering from cancer and other medical conditions in the local Mobile area. Learn more about this team and the children they serve at http://www.kaneswarriorkids.com.
A few additional details: bring your favorite finger food to share during our fellowship. Please plan to arrive early and come in through the Family Center at the rear of the building, deliver your food, and then register at tables there. Proceed down the hall to the Worship Center for our group meeting, which will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. See you all there!
